start of summer days

this morning, i woke up at around 7 because i needed to be at school by 8 AM. or so i thought. inna texted me that i needed to get to school at that time to turn over the payment for the senior's night photos to mrs. sacdalan. as i groggily looked at the time on my cellphone, i decided, it just wasn't worth the loss of sleep. so i buried my nose on my pillow once more and told my mom (who had come to make sure i was up) to come back at 8 instead so i can get to school by 9. after asking me about the sudden change of plans (which i answered with a grunt and an "eh, ganon eh") she left me in peace.
i got to school at around 9:10 and found a few of my classmates hanging out in front of our classroom. the teachers weren't around yet, apparently.
i saw sam and asked her to come with me to complain to ms. martha about the error in my OS gift. the note inside (signed by the principal) held someone else's name and that bothered my mom terribly. ms. martha was in the middle of a meeting or something so we had to wait a while. when the meeting was done and she was walking over to us, i realized the total stupidity of what i was about to ask her to do for me. i managed to stutter my complain and she totally got on the phone immediately to fix the mess. she sent me to the library where the note will be replaced. that was so nice of her. she truly is one of the nicest people i have ever met. the kind of person who is always happy to see you and the person who will listen and try to help you out as best as she can. she's a keeper, that one! i dropped the book off at the library and they told me to come back next week to get it since they still have to get the note re-printed and re-signed. they actually seemed apologetic about it and when i told my mom that, she was thoroughly pleased. see, we argued about it the night before. me, saying that it was ridiculous and we should just let is slide. and her, saying that the gift didn't mean anything if it wasn't my name on the note. geez. she told me to go to my adviser first (i highly doubted that my adviser would really do anything about it. the possibility that she would just scoff at me and my concern was high.) and then to the office of the principal if that didn't work. thank heavens for ms. martha. huge burden off my shoulders. i'm gonna claim it on monday since i have to be at school anyway for the usherette rehearsal for the undergrad's recognition day.
so i finally get to the classroom and my adviser immediately asks for the list of those people who haven't paid for the senior's night photos yet. i'm glad she was left in charge of that one. makes so much sense too. i hang for a bit with my classmates and then the card distribution began. i gotta be honest. not happy with my grades. especially trigo. friggin' 85! how am i supposed to survive college math with that? and eco was bad news too. 3 points lower! really, sir? so unfair. okay. maybe i did get low scores on the LQs but, c'mon! i recited so much more! pshh. maybe it's better to be good on paper than on the recitation thing. hmmm. definitely better to be good on paper. or else, strike a balance between the two. music and physics both decreased by a point. and the rest, i must say, is good news! on the comments part, it said:
She is a consistent outstanding student. She is generally well-behaved and good natured. Her quiet nature is sometimes broken by her cheerful stance and happy conversation with her classmates.
really? that doesn't sound much like me. but i guess i'll take it.
i ordered form 137 for college without really knowing what it's for. apparently i needed another form, 138 this time. goodness. we're not robots you know! you can name the thing! i went home and started the routine that scares me most because i fear it's what i'll do all summer. eat, computer, tv, eat. i even baked these effin' butterscotch brownies! arghhhh! help! friends! classmates! invite me to all the gatherings! please! save me from boredom and all those fattening food!
a'ight. bye for now.
stitch 'n bitch!

weekend and a couple of days of school

spent the previous saturday cleaning stuff in the first floor. nearly a month after the great flood and we're still cleaning. my dad is inexplicably enthusiastic about it. wonder what's gotten into him. we cleaned some more on sunday. i bowed out during the afternoon to start working on the religion group work. we all decided to watch michael jackson's this is it after going to mass. it was a great movie, if i can call it that.
note to self: a medium bucket of popcorn is not enough. always get the biggest size. you know you love that thing.
my math teacher told us our math grades today (report card) and she told me mine increased! that is such great news because i know that my quarter exam was a major fail. i was so not expecting it to increase. i so thought it would just be retained. yahoo!
my busmates and i discussed how annoying it is that everyone is saying BV all of a sudden (and frequently too). in lieu of this new fad word, i want to share with you my BV moment of the day.
i printed our rel report on the non-sticky side of my acetate. BV.
that might not have made much sense, but it sure is giving me bad vibes. haha
a'ight. off to higher pursuits.

It would be a regular school day today, if we didn't have the card distribution. We got let off at 2:30 and my mom arrived soon after. That's not really exciting. But what happened before that might be worth telling.
- rel class - AB was MIA so i had to report her part. it wasn't so bad. ms. tsaby took over from there so it was all good. i have yet to ask for a venue for tomorrow. we continue with the contextualization and the prayer service.
- filipino class - spent 15 minutes on this one. the whole period got eaten up by the english week awarding ceremonies. that's good news, if you don't already know. we had the rest of the period to plan out the reporting for tomorrow. we got chapter 11 of MPAD, so that's easy. unfortunately, only 3 people were contributing to the discussion. it sucks that most of my groupmates didn't contribute to our discussion. who the hell let them slack off?
- english class - boring. no offense.
- down time - helped gloria with her candidacy video. if you asked me a two years ago, i would have never agreed to help her. things change. for the better.
- card distribution time - my mom actually arrived early. a first for her. we actually got into the first 20 students to get their cards. my grades aren't so bad. it sucks that 3 of my marks got lower. this has given me a renewed enthusiasm to do better, whoopee!
my mom actually forgot to pay my tution so she handed me a check and told me to go to the treasurer's office. damn. that sucks since i alreayd told her to pay two weeks ago. this reminds me of a conversation i had ---
friend: (sees long queue of parents at the TO) bakit kaya ngayon pa lang sila nagbabayad?
me: they probably have better things to do
friend: ...better things to do vs. their priorities...?
come to think of it,
my these parents might consider other activities higher up on the priority list than 'paying for daughter's tuition'. it's possible. just look at my mom.
i don't blame her though. i can easily think of better things to do than paying for band fest tickets, class pictures, etc.
in other news, research is killing mikka.

i'm too good at invading other people's privacy. tsk. i'm kinda disappointed in myself. i just can't butt out, eh? mea culpa.
tons of homework to get to. i'll do them after this blog post.
the play production i finally over. i'm super surprised that it wasn't terrible. after holding 2 useless practice sessions, we were actually able to get it together during crunch time (haha). nobody forgot their lines. i mean, they did at some point but they were able to say something similar. good job, act III! we killed it! :D
my exam results turned out well. filipino and algeb results weren't so hot though. i'm comparing my grades from the second quarter to the third. i'm not really that grade conscious but i put 'em on the same page in my homework notebook (not on purpose) so i get to do that. got 4 mistakes on the soc sci exam, just like in the last quarter. what's up with that? no improvement? got 2 points less on the religion exam. major improvement in the chem exam. damn. TLE will be bad. anyway, enough about that.
watching pineapple express. not rolling on the floor laughing yet.

crisis not over

my sister is all annoyed downstairs because someone parked in her spot here in the village. we can't find the owner. she doesn't want to have to move it again later because she's taking my other sister's spot right now.
anyway, i was just doing my homework for
Filipino due tomorrow. we have to find someone who has a disability but was able to succeed anyway. naturally, i don't know anyone who fits that description except Apolinario Mabini. i asked my mom and she told me about Padacas. i did some research and that turned out to be a life saver. thanks, mom.
Grace Padacas is impressive. check out
her wikipedia page.
the
report cards were given out two days ago. my grades turned out really well. my chem lecture grade improved substantially, thank heavens. my computer also got a 7-point upgrade. yeah, men!! the only bad thing is my chem lab grade, which decreased by a point. and the biggest surprise of all...my algeb grade climbed up a notch. can't get it any better than that. :)
my school will have a
PAASCU accreditation this coming week. the school has had a lot of minor improvements. the changes have made stc look 10x better. hopefully, changes in my school don't have to be brought on by an accreditation board.
my class is going to have our
field trip on friday next week. it hasn't sunk in yet. what i mean is, i'm not feeling the excitement i normally associate with a field trip. hmm, i wonder why that is? could be the onslaught of homework we are expected to stay on top of.
our class was chosen to do the
magic show. frankly, i was hoping that the other class would get it. yes, i have more faith in them than in my own class. i guess that makes me...a traitor(?). IMO, the storyline we have right now is kinda weak. it needs extensive work before it fly with our audience (freshmen and sophomores).
finished the
chinese fan dance today (chinese!). it was all going really well until we got to the line performances. line one (sadly, that's my line) messed up the circle formation part. some veered to the right, some veered to the left. it was funny but i'm guessing that didn't do a lot for our grade.
the other palihan leaders officially launched the
PASKO drive. it was really successful. :)
happy birthday to aira, patplan, ms. gineta, and all the others. November seems to be the birthday month, eh.
that's it really. i just felt like blogging today :)

recog(nition) day
Friday, April 4, 2008 5:53 PM
i got up at around 7AM today because of cel. that's crazy because i think i slept at around 1:30 (i still don't have a clock in my room). anyway, i got up and took a shower and...i got ready for the 10:00AM ceremony. we (me, ate ida, mom) got there at around 9:30AM. my dad couldn't come because he has some important thing happening in mindoro. i'm honestly disappointed that he couldn't make it. i'm even more disappointed that he didn't even call today. he better make it up to me.
my mom and i talked about finally getting me a new cellphone. it seems completely logical to get a phone now. but then, ate ida comes in and tells me that i should ask for a cellphone when i'm in the 4th year so that when college rolls around, i'll be the one with the coolest-looking phone. damn. that actually sounds kind of logical. what should i do?
the recognition ceremonies went as well as it could have been. i didn't like my hair though. when i was getting ready this morning, i noticed lots of "tutsangs". naturally, i looked for some hair gel to keep them down. i got this bench/fix extra strong-hold tub of gel. it looks so nasty but i figured it would probably do the trick. i put some on the top of my head and proceeded to put the rest of the gunk on my hair. apparently, that's not how you use gel. i ended up having stinky hair but at least it took care of all the hairs sticking out.
we came back to the school after we ate lunch to get my report
card paper. we got in, and we got out. i saw bogart, ronnie, monique, kriecia, and carmina. all my grades have improved. except math. from 89 i went down to an 88. not completely terrible considering my knowledge on the subject. the rest of my grades are as follows:
RELIGION-92
ENGLISH-91
FILIPINO-92
BIOLOGY-90
ALGEBRA-88
ASIAN STUDIES-89
TLE-89
COMPUTER-96
PEH-90
MUSIC-91
ELECTIVE (SPEECH)-94
BEHAVIORAL ASSESSMENT-HS
PALIHAN- Oi didn't notice that my soc sci grade went down one point. bad luck aside, the rest of my grades aren't embarrassing. i particularly like my computer grade. the palihan grade is nice too. on the comments section, ms. calderon said:
"She is a consistent outstanding student. She shows unwavering zeal in accomplishing the tasks assigned to her. Having a good command of the English language, she is encouraged to articulate her ideas and insights more consistently."
well, that's that.
i will try to do it again, but better.

LIFE IS GOOD!!!
Thursday, January 25, 2007 8:57 PM
GREAT THING # 1 wow! i finally made it! I, (name concealed for protection pertaining to the danger that is the internet 7/23/07), a bonafide student of (concealed for the very same resons), is now an Outstanding Student! isn't that so awesome?? i couldn't stop smiling the whole day (Jan 24). the other OSs are marta, mikka, sam, lourdes, patricia, izzy and halecx. yikee!!! i'm finally an OS! YEHEY! teehee. gotta keep it up until 4th quatah
GREAT THING # 2 mrs. dp changed our seating arrangement. i'm not sure if this a great thing because i now reside (?) between sam and daryll. we are so noisy! it's crazy! but miss says she believes we have self-control. haha. bogus i tell you! i'm in the very back row by the way. its very hard to hear things or read small lettering in the blackboard. =)
GREAT THING # 3 we had our SEG session today. its our second to the last meeting. we had our second formal debate today. i'd just like to say that i was on fire!!! ate jacque said that she liked my speech. mostly my first arguement but whatever. we won the debate! me and patricia plan! if it had not been the debate team member that joined ate kat, we would be the clear, concrete winner. i love debating! haha! ate jacque said that i lacked drama. she said i looked like i was too quiet and shy. not aggressive or confident. haha. the motion was "THW bring cellphones to school". me and patricia were the closing government. i was the member of the opposition. patricia is, naturally, the whip. my first arguement was that why would the school take the risk of allowing cellphones to school when they have to deal with lost phones, staling, cheating and other things like that. hehe. ate jacque said that she didn't hear that arguement before! coolness! haha. =)
so ends the great things that happened to me. i have other (not so great) news too. bestfriend (ate remz) keeps sitting on the table i sit at during lunch. she talks to my friends and comments on things that she sees. she still calls me 'seg'. =)
i can definitely say that LIFE IS GOOD MAYBE EVEN AWESOME, AMAZING, GREAT AT THE MOMENT!!!!!! =)
P.S. our outbound trip is tomorrow. gotta go get my beauty rest. haha. (assembly time: 5:30 am)
