for the nth time

the title pertains to the movie Juno. thank you, star world, for showing it so frequently. for showing it again tonight. you leave me no choice but to watch because you know it's one of those movies i don't mind watching lots of times. pathetic.
the intrams ended on a good note. our section actually got to cheer a couple of times there. we had a cheer that went something like "ole, ole, ole, ole...O-N-E!". it will suffice to say that it didn't catch on with the rest of the class. let's see, thrid place in suongan (i'm proud to say i helped out with that one), first in patintero, first in doubles badminton, and third in singles badminton. good haul this year, IV1. does this mean we're no longer the cream section? :D
we had our second community visit for the school year to bahay pangarap. we didn't even work anymore. we just got right down to the christmas party. there were lots of song and dance numbers to keep everybody entertained. there was this one girl, eureka (not my classmate), who could really belt out a song. she did listen from dreamgirls and she was hitting all the right notes without screaming like some people *cough*charice*cough*. there were also these kids who danced like they didn't have bones. their steps were pretty repetitive but it's okay. when you're a kid, you can get away with anything. we had a game where we had to name the most christmas songs. our BP teammates were insanely good with it so we won. amazing. about damn time too. we finally went to have lunch with our assigned family. it's so good that they had a baby. you could just tell how happy they were. the dad showed it to us like he won first prize or something. they named it Noya (sp?). we got back to the school at around 2:45. i get tired just thinking about the bus situation.
anyway, i'm home now and just chillin' and drinkin'. peace out .\\// (that's a peace sign, btw)

gapas, threshing, long sleeves

currently listening to: be on you - flo rida ft. ne-yo
i was supposed to wake up at 4:30 AM this morning to get ready for school. i ended up waking at 5 AM instead. that mishap cost me my breakfast. i brought the shawarma with me but it smelled funky by the time i thought to eat it on the bus. i arrived at school in plenty of time so i really regret not having a proper breakfast.
the trip to bulacan was pretty uneventful but it was fun just chatting with mikka. for once, it didn't take long to get to the destination. when we got there, i did not prepare myself for a 30-minute walk under the sun. the fact that i had to be at the front of the line (of my section) made it very boring.
we got right down to business, laying out the sacks for us to sit on. after a lot more moving around, everyone finally settled down. the kind farmers taught us the very basics of "pag-gapas" and of stacking the uhay. boots and long sleeves on, we walked to the palayan. i was one of the first few who got their hands on a karet. definitely a dangerous thing to be swinging around. actually, forget swinging it around. it should be held with caution. after doing that, i focused my energy on just transferring the cut up uhay to the pilapil. only to find out that everything was going to be put in this giant mound in the middle. total waste of energy (the earlier part). i finally managed to sit down and found the ground to be crawling with all kinds of insects. nature at its best.
the place where we had lunch (and convened earlier) was too small for all the seniors so it took me a while to find a spot to eat. i didn't even chat with the people because i was so friggin' hungry. i ate a whole tilapia. mmm, good stuff. i would also like to thank my classmates who bought coke litro for everyone to share. and to celina, for sharing her glass with me :) i did get my own after a while (thanks to my classmates for that too).
the class presentations followed after lunch. i just sat down in a semi-shaded area and cooled down. i zoned out for the most part but it was fun. the route we took back to the bus was much shorter this time. i guess they wanted us to appreciate the horizons of the province before.
again, the trip back to school was short. i got a headache (probably caused by being in the sun for so long (i know. the farmers do that everyday. it's a very maarte thing to say. i admit that.)).
waited for my dad to pick me up until 5:30. we went through the jollibee drive through. that was a really good decision because we were stuck in traffic.
a'ight. time for me to contemplate whether i'll do the religion homework now or later.

regular day at school

just another normal, coma-inducing day at school. i should really prepare for the rural visit tomorrow, but the internet is too enticing. ahhh! somebody stop me!
sigh. okay, bye now.
edit: i tried putting text (.txt) files on my ipod. it could only handle about 700 words. wassup wid dat? my attention span is too short to find out the problem.

salu-salo together

currently listening to: shooting the moon - ok go (guitar solo is awesome!)
we had palihan today. the whole thing was considered as our "skills training" for the rural visit on friday. somehow, the term skills training strikes a nerve with me.
i practically spent the whole day sitting down. sitting down while listening to the talk about farmers, sitting down while we watched the documentary, sitting down as we were eating, constantly sitting down.
the opening stuff was entertaining, but by the time the documentary kicked in, i was fighting to keep my eyes open. not that it wasn't interesting, it was just...monotonous (mich loved it though). during the overdue recess, i didn't eat anything because i had nowhere to put my retainer (i have to take it out when i eat. inconvenient to say the least.). left the case at home (it's bright, bright pink! how could i miss that?). having a retainer can be considered a diet, i guess.
the salu-salo was fun. it was a shame that i left my hand sanitizer in my other bag (i'm getting awfully forgetful lately. whassup wid dat?). ate on the banana leaf, ate with my hands, and all that authentic stuff.
the remainder of the day was spent sorting out the goods in the palihan office. i finally got to experience that. missed out during the ondoy operations (i was a victim, after all :D). had a fun time with mikka, kyla, dhanna, patplan, ab, dolor, and all the other palihan officers there. must bring more goods tomorrow :D
a'ight. off to the cliffnotes website to read about the inferno :P
edit: i miss blogging :) sorry for the parentheses overkill (haha!)

i have a ton of homework today. looking at my to do list makes me dizzy.
we had our palihan yesterday. it was fun but it felt like the teachers just made us do activities because we couldn't go to the communities yet. i spent half the day in the computer lab with michelle doing this cartoon GIF. it was fun because she's so crazy but i kinda wished that we were with the rest of the class. our presentation turned out really well because we were really organized for once. all thanks to our adviser who was really hands-on about everything.
tomorrow, i may have my first assignment as a layout artist. i'm really nervous because whatever i come up with may get on the magazine for everyone to see. i'm also nervous that what i come up with may suck and will never ever see the light of day.
entrance exams prove to be less stressful than the actual application process. endless blanks to be filled. ugh. i bet this is what it's like to be an adult. nooooooo! here's looking at you DLSU and UST. UP and ADMU were equally stressful. but it's over and done with now. hasta la vista. XD

currently listening to: fly on the wall - miley cyrus
"don't you wish that you could be a fly on the wall?!"that song is awesome. 'nuff said.we're gonna have a quiz in chemistry tomorrow. too bad the topic is something i don't understand anymore. the internet's explanation is so much more complicated than what we were taught. or maybe it's always been that complicated. who knows? i sure as hell don't get it.
palihan today. same same in the community. nothing out of the ordinary happened which is such a shame. the one thing that changed was that the little boys weren't wrestling. i guess the fight-starters were absent today. a good thing, nonetheless. we saw horton hears a who in the grade school AVR. the movie is pretty funny. nice, uncomplicated plot. it felt like the whole time we were watching, my classmates were waiting for jesse mccartney's character to speak (Jojo). and when he did, they all screamed in girlish delight so they didn't hear his voice anyway. we even watched the closing credits just to see this: Jojo - Jesse McCartney. in the end, we didn't. haha. but it was still all good.
the movie Twilight is opening the theaters here today. i have a classmate who's gonna watch it today. that's so crazy because we have 5 quizzes tomorrow (which i have yet to study for). i'm planning on watching 3 movies in a day with a friend of mine. hope it pushes through. can't wait for the headaches.
i guess i really didn't get to tell you about my outbound trip. it was super fun. lots of walking and counting involved. after the first 3 lakes, the idea of counting our steps went out the window. the third lake took a staggering 720 steps. lemme tell you, they keep getting farther and farther and farther. the fun part was the mud. i had a bad stomach that day so i couldn't walk as fast as i could (i had to walk fast to keep up with the people in front of me. btw, mikka can be a champion power walker if she wanted). at one point, i couldn't see the people ahead of me so i picked up the pace. bad idea on a slippery path. my foot got stuck in the mud like vacuum twice. since no one was directly in front of me, i didn't know which parts of the path were soft (likely to swallow my foot up) or firm (good to step on). luckily for me, i had the people behind me helping me up whenever i fell down (they also laughed at me a lot).
shower time was...interesting. i forgot to bring a towel and a pair of slippers. i bought a pair from a roadside vendor. it's weird what people sell on the roadsides these days. the towel situation couldn't be helped so i made do with the face towel i brought. i guess i can officially say that i took a shower with 4 other girls. desperate times...desperate times.

crisis not over

currently listening to: i'll run - the cab
my sister is all annoyed downstairs because someone parked in her spot here in the village. we can't find the owner. she doesn't want to have to move it again later because she's taking my other sister's spot right now.
anyway, i was just doing my homework for
Filipino due tomorrow. we have to find someone who has a disability but was able to succeed anyway. naturally, i don't know anyone who fits that description except Apolinario Mabini. i asked my mom and she told me about Padacas. i did some research and that turned out to be a life saver. thanks, mom.
Grace Padacas is impressive. check out
her wikipedia page.
the
report cards were given out two days ago. my grades turned out really well. my chem lecture grade improved substantially, thank heavens. my computer also got a 7-point upgrade. yeah, men!! the only bad thing is my chem lab grade, which decreased by a point. and the biggest surprise of all...my algeb grade climbed up a notch. can't get it any better than that. :)
my school will have a
PAASCU accreditation this coming week. the school has had a lot of minor improvements. the changes have made stc look 10x better. hopefully, changes in my school don't have to be brought on by an accreditation board.
my class is going to have our
field trip on friday next week. it hasn't sunk in yet. what i mean is, i'm not feeling the excitement i normally associate with a field trip. hmm, i wonder why that is? could be the onslaught of homework we are expected to stay on top of.
our class was chosen to do the
magic show. frankly, i was hoping that the other class would get it. yes, i have more faith in them than in my own class. i guess that makes me...a traitor(?). IMO, the storyline we have right now is kinda weak. it needs extensive work before it fly with our audience (freshmen and sophomores).
finished the
chinese fan dance today (chinese!). it was all going really well until we got to the line performances. line one (sadly, that's my line) messed up the circle formation part. some veered to the right, some veered to the left. it was funny but i'm guessing that didn't do a lot for our grade.
the other palihan leaders officially launched the
PASKO drive. it was really successful. :)
happy birthday to aira, patplan, ms. gineta, and all the others. November seems to be the birthday month, eh.
that's it really. i just felt like blogging today :)

weekend post 2
Sunday, September 28, 2008 6:44 PM
i'm currently listening to
norwegian recycling's first compilation album,
so far. i read about them on the inquirer this saturday. i like 'i wish i was a teenage dirtbag'. scratch

that. they're all pretty awesome.
yeah. weekend post part two. it's been a busy weekend.
friday - went to school and did who-knows-what. got home. rescheduled dentist appointment and then went to greenhills with my dad. bought 7:45 pm tickets for eagle eye. ate dinner at
peri-peri in promenade. bought a few
stuff. saw
eagle eye [shia labeouf, michelle monaghan, billy bob thornton]. went home at 10:30.
saturday - woke up like it's a school day and went to school like it's a school day.
iLead forum. had school introductions.
school intoductions were mostly creative. stc's was lame. so sad. the palihan leaders [me included] were supposed to be in charge of that. i appreciated xavier's because their intro was from one of my most favorite movies of all time:
dodgeball [clap, clap, cobra hiss :)]. had tuna sandwich and new harvest for the
working merienda. watched the
presentations of 13 schools on their best practices on environment. gawd. they were all pretty much the same. i used to believe that the outreach programs were unique to stc. oh dear, how wrong i was. high schools everywhere pretty much do the same things. theresians aren't missing out on much.

got home at nearly 1:00 pm. scarfed my lunch down. got dressed. packed for trip. left with the family for
tagaytay at 2:00ish. arrived at
8 suites by fat jimmy two and a half hours later. the name is odd but the place is fantastic and very zen-ish. the place is on a 'soft opening'. the place is a kilometer away from tagaytay highlands, the destination. changed into party clothes and left at 6:00 pm. arrived at country club to celebrate my cousin's wedding. it was a
'dinner and dance party'. i had dinner but did no dancing. stayed there until a quarter to 10. went back to hotel to rest and have a gossip girl marathon [season one].
sunday - got up at 9 and had breakfast at
merk's cafe. watched gossip girl some more. got ready to leave. left the hotel at 12:30. ate lunch at unknown grill place. traveled back to manila. went to a 4:00 pm mass at
the holy redeemer. bought bread at pan de manila. got home at 5:30 pm-ish. unpacked and got ready for tomorrow. opened the computer and watched fall out boy's video for
i don't care. downloaded norwegian recycling compilation album. blogged on blogger.
so, what was your weekend like?

smells like...
Friday, January 11, 2008 7:54 PM
crap. something must be cooking in the kitchen. we had our palihan today. it was fun and nerve racking and embarrassing at times. fun because being with friends is always enjoyable. stressful because of the tasks we had to get done (make a creed, form an introduction, think of slogans, offer the symbol). embarrassing because we had to parade around the whole school, doing nothing. i didn't even carry any posters, or whatnot. but there is a silver lining in every situation. the juniors were off on their outbound so that lessens our audience. we had mascots. our section's was plankton from spongebob squarepants and sebastian from little mermaid. the others were a mermaid, a crab, a jellyfish, dory from finding nemo, and others which i can't remember coz they're just forgettable. the whole topic today is fishermen. on our next palihan we will visit a fishing village and talk to the people there. i'm with mikka, steph, and niko. not so bad. we all get along. haha. i just hope they don't start speaking japanese coz that will just leave me out of the conversation. all i know is "hai" and "sayonara". i just got another compliment for my hair today. just one. they saw this hairstyle four days ago and they're still raving about it. can't wait to see movies! this weekend's movie list shows real promise. aight,
