last day of summer

currently listening to: makes me happy - drake bell
the last day of summer has finally arrived. i am pleased to say that i have been spending this day productively (until now, anyway). went to mass with the fam, had lunch, shopped at national bookstore for some last-minute school stuff, and had a haircut.
i'm not super happy about my haircut. actually, it's not really a haircut. it's more of a trim. i'm not pleased with it cause it seems (to me) like a total waste of money. i mean, i had a haircut barely three months ago. bit extravagant, no? oh, well. no use crying over spilled milk. but i still feel super bad about it.
in other news, i still have no idea what to bring tomorrow to school. you'd think i would know by now, after the dozen first days i've gone through. i called up a friend to ask what she would bring and she answered, "a few notebooks, my wallet, a big filler, and coloring materials". makes sense, right? i'll just copy what she's doing.
she already knows who her class adviser is. (drum roll please) ms. tsaby! i didn't really think she'd be following us into the fourth year. other recurring teachers are mrs. blanco, ms. ilano, and mrs. miranda. i bet there are more surprises in store for me tomorrow. i can't wait.
song of the moment: I'M NOT GONNA TEACH YOUR BOYFRIEND HOW TO DANCE WITH YOU by the BLACK KIDS :)
ahhh, so long sweet summer.

disclaimer: there is a part of me that likes to take vain photos. it's coming out now.
i got a new haircut!
how does it manage to look like my last haircut?

at least it's better than my hair for the past week:

also, my braces come off on Monday.

i had it on for 11 months. sigh.

recog(nition) day
Friday, April 4, 2008 5:53 PM
i got up at around 7AM today because of cel. that's crazy because i think i slept at around 1:30 (i still don't have a clock in my room). anyway, i got up and took a shower and...i got ready for the 10:00AM ceremony. we (me, ate ida, mom) got there at around 9:30AM. my dad couldn't come because he has some important thing happening in mindoro. i'm honestly disappointed that he couldn't make it. i'm even more disappointed that he didn't even call today. he better make it up to me.
my mom and i talked about finally getting me a new cellphone. it seems completely logical to get a phone now. but then, ate ida comes in and tells me that i should ask for a cellphone when i'm in the 4th year so that when college rolls around, i'll be the one with the coolest-looking phone. damn. that actually sounds kind of logical. what should i do?
the recognition ceremonies went as well as it could have been. i didn't like my hair though. when i was getting ready this morning, i noticed lots of "tutsangs". naturally, i looked for some hair gel to keep them down. i got this bench/fix extra strong-hold tub of gel. it looks so nasty but i figured it would probably do the trick. i put some on the top of my head and proceeded to put the rest of the gunk on my hair. apparently, that's not how you use gel. i ended up having stinky hair but at least it took care of all the hairs sticking out.
we came back to the school after we ate lunch to get my report
card paper. we got in, and we got out. i saw bogart, ronnie, monique, kriecia, and carmina. all my grades have improved. except math. from 89 i went down to an 88. not completely terrible considering my knowledge on the subject. the rest of my grades are as follows:
RELIGION-92
ENGLISH-91
FILIPINO-92
BIOLOGY-90
ALGEBRA-88
ASIAN STUDIES-89
TLE-89
COMPUTER-96
PEH-90
MUSIC-91
ELECTIVE (SPEECH)-94
BEHAVIORAL ASSESSMENT-HS
PALIHAN- Oi didn't notice that my soc sci grade went down one point. bad luck aside, the rest of my grades aren't embarrassing. i particularly like my computer grade. the palihan grade is nice too. on the comments section, ms. calderon said:
"She is a consistent outstanding student. She shows unwavering zeal in accomplishing the tasks assigned to her. Having a good command of the English language, she is encouraged to articulate her ideas and insights more consistently."
well, that's that.
i will try to do it again, but better.

what i look like
Thursday, April 3, 2008 7:07 PM

i had a haircut last Saturday (march 31,2008). i forgot to mention it. i had it done at the bench fix salon near st. luke's hospital. i liked it there because the people there are really professional. the hairdressers didn't conduct idle gossip. at this one salon, the hairdressers and shampoo girls kept on discussing the latest on-dits and it annoyed me very much. another thing i liked about the bench salon was that they had all the latest magazines. you wouldn't see an issue of the Philippine Tatler from April 2006. as far as i could tell, all the magazines they had there had April 2008 on the cover. they even had publications from neighboring countries. very cool. my sister also had her hair cut there. well, you can see what it looks like.

twenty 'o' eight

i've finally come back to school. its been a good first day. everyone was really complimentary about my new haircut. their compliments made my day. the first day of school this year is the intramurals (intrams). i'm on the suongan team. its a team sport so you can't be blamed on your performance individually (duh). its really just tug-o-war. we've won once and lost twice. ahh, well. at least things are better on the basketball front. thanks to leky and arianne. they really make a great team. the volleyball team also did well. i think they didn't get much success for their first few matches because they lacked support. by the time sam got there, they were pumped and enjoying the game. enjoying what you're doing actually contributes to your success. we had to forfeit for the tiyakad games. we didn't have enough players. at least marta is still all for chess. but she said herself that she doesn't expect to win. who knows?
my dad will be going back to calapan to give his full attention to the business. i hope he doesn't get too stressed out.
all in all, its a fine day.
