currently listening to: time - cute is what we aim for
so, what happened today? today was bad so let's start with yesterday. the high school mass started near 8:00 because the priest was late. it was the first time that i really thought a mass wouldn't push through. well, the priest arrived and all was well and good. my part in the mass, which was to bring the tarpaulin of our lady of guadalupe to the stage was a major fail. my class adviser refused to go to the middle of the aisle, where the tarps were at so we started really late. first pa naman kami. gawd. stress that i don't really need! we unrolled the tarp and made our way to the stage. i stumbled on the way (in front of the principal and the special guest no less). hanging the tarp on the stand proved to be more difficult than it looked like. gawd. the mass ended and we had to change to our PE uniforms to practice for the batch dancing. it was hot in the lawn. very hot. after that, we were finally given our lunch break and daryll made me wait for her to take a make-up test in religion. she treated me to lunch afterwards, which is only fitting since it was a 20-minute (or more) wait. songfest practice ensued and we just practiced until it started sounding better and better. come performance time, i could feel the heat from the stage lights. we didn't win the songfest. boo. but it's okay. you can't win 'em all, right?
so today, we did the batch dancing during recess. it was fun and the mother superior/general gave a really good speech. right before the dance started, an ant bit me on one of my toes and it started swelling like crazy. i have no idea why that ant bit me. for fun? did i step on one of his/her family members? goodness! it's still blown up right now. after the dancing, we had our long test in trigonometry and it was...fine, i guess. i stared at test 2 for a long time before i remembered how to do it. then we had a quiz in english and then the practical exam in computer. i totally failed that one. sigh. goodbye computer grades. i really suck at math. programming is fine but mixing those two together is beyond me. eco period was fun as usual. lots of laughing. haha!
the first order of business when i got home was to finish the PE cloth. i finished it but it didn't turn out as planned. oh well. nobody said it had to be a masterpiece. i'm just happy with the fact that it's colored and is wearable. it's not project runway material, but it'll do for my PE class. i should totally take a picture and post it on here. that's after i find pictures for the micropaper due on friday.
good lawrd! i'm only one person!

currently listening to: patd interview - npr world cafe session (yeah...i know)
the family day is over. my section didn't win but i think we did pretty well, all things considered. i didn't stick around for the family day because the crowd was overwhelming and the heat was unbearable. besides, i wasn't looking too awesome that day, so why let everyone see my overheated state?
when i got home, i wanted to just crash on my bed.
alas, i have no bed! since my dad had my room repainted (he literally had it repainted it...as in the same color...white), the place smells like (what else) paint. it's really not healthy to be inhaling all those fumes so i had to sleep on my parent's bed. that didn't last long either. my dad woke me up so i could start putting my furniture back in. ugh.
sunday. i finally thought i would be getting the much needed rest i'd been longing for. unfortunately, my dad woke me up at 7 so we could go to my grandmother's sister's birthday party (tia nene). mind you, the party is in my uncle's house in lucena, quezon. about a four-hour drive. it was just me and my dad because my sisters are too lazy and my mom is too busy. we finally got there and it was another alcancia family reunion. it sucked that i'm the only representative from our family. everyone else's family was almost complete. we got there at 12 pm, just in time for lunch. i mostly hung out with chela, since we're the cousins with the closest ages. after lunch, we watched the hottie and the nottie with our second cousins in their TV room (or whatever you call the room with the TV inside). that killed the time while the adults chatted outside. the movie finished just in time for the goodbyes. everyone had to go back home and whatnot.
it was another four hour drive back to manila and then we went to mass. i guess that concludes another one of my exciting weekends.
oh, yeah. i watched high school musical 3: senior year with belay, daryll, and sam last friday. it was awesome! loved the songs. the only thing i didn't like was how it all ended for sharpay. i guess she has to learn humility and all that. oh, well. so, will there be a high school musical 4? i hope so. the newbies looked promising.

currently listening to: oh, dakota - a rocket to the moon
i'm so tired from all the dance pro practices. the class is in pretty good shape. i still can't get that last part down, though. i'll work on it...promise.
on top of all that, there's still the inevitable homework. i wish
all the teachers would take it easy on us. haha. i don't really mind.
what's school without work?
i'm so sleepy. dinner time.

i finally got off my ass long enough to tidy my room. i just finished unpacking my bags from the palawan trip. gawd, i'm so lazy. i unearthed various possessions of my mother. she bought so many souvenirs and she smuggled it in my bag. my dad doesn't even know! no wonder it was so heavy when i got it off the conveyor belt. in all fairness, i did let her pack my things for me. gawd...another manifestation of my laziness. but i was genuinely surprised when she agreed. turns out she has a hidden agenda other than helping her daughter. while i was cleaning up, i found the dvd of the family day festivities. i got my ass back on the computer to watch it (momentarily distracting me from my cleaning). our performance was embarrassing. but that's just how i normally feel whenever i watch a video wherein i'm included (i was dancing no less). but i'm proud of me and my classmates for churning out something so great. i was caught by the camera a few times. but nikola seemed to get most of the face time (feet time!).
so, back to cleaning. i didn't have to fix my closet anymore because cel already fixed it for me. goog gawd. the things people do for me. no wonder i'm getting fat. k, that's all for now. bye. :D
*this is my third post for the day. i am such a loser.
*it is also my 150th post. hooray!

dancepro successes
Friday, October 26, 2007 5:04 PM
our section is finally getting somewhere. we sanded off the rough parts off our dance but a little more synchronization and rhythm would be most welcome. aira said 'umayos' yung dance namin. she then clarified na 'umayos, hindi gumanda' when i said we were gonna win. tomorrow is gonna be hectic. my day starts at 5:30 because i have to be at the school by 6:30. i have to do make-up, hair and all that. i don't think i an be trusted to make the cheek designs. better let mikka do it.
the mcdo delivery just came. i forgot to order for myself. damn. i'm so busy thinking of others, i forgot about me. damn. i'm so hungry too. ahhh! when will dinner come??

dancepro difficulties
Thursday, October 25, 2007 6:05 PM
our dance is so far from winning. that is the sad fact. during the year-level practice, we totally failed and didn't do anything for the last minute. a lot of us cried, but i was always just on the verge of tears. i stopped myself from crying because, i needed a clear head and a running nose just doesn't cut it.after the crying session, we headed for gate 3 and got our act together. we were able to finish it in till the very last guitar riff (well, at that), and we were really pleased about that. ecstatic, actually. why wouldn't we be? we've been toiling for every hour we can. but when the time came for the general rehearsals, we did ok but the end was still shaky.
when i got on the school bus and became exposed to the different comments, one thing was certain. no one expected us to win. a third-year busmate of mine said the nice dances in 2nd year were the fans, the malongs, the green panyos and the palayok. no mention of the tutup, or the nails. i was insulted of course because i was just right there. there's no point in sharing this piece of information to my classmates. why dampen their spirits? we definitely set our sights low enough already. no more winning, just getting a fair grade. nothing compared to last year, surely. at least then, we had a clear chance of winning. and now, we are so far away from that. anyway, there's no one to tell this to, so i'm writing it here. greaaaaat.

daryll
Monday, October 22, 2007 7:49 PM
i love her. but she can be such a pain sometimes. yes, we're talking about daryll. she's an awesome friend. but she's still human. sometimes, she just acts like a total needy, idiot. it annoys the heck out of me. i just want to scream "use your friggin' head!" sigh. still seething. dance pro has been nothing but a race to finish last from the start. what we face right now is no longer the hope of winning, but the spark of actually being able to finish the whole song. i kinda doubt it right now. thanks to our awesome teachers. the encouraging adviser, the more than helpful co-ad, and the ever responsible pe teacher. conflicts arise in the classroom because of make-up, props, and other such things. damn. saying sorry to daryll right now, dunno if she even deserves it. this is saying sorry because you want the fight to be over, not because you truly mean it. gawd, i gotta go. i can't believe they're putting school work on top of all this dancepro shhh.

upgrades
Friday, October 19, 2007 7:48 PM
our whole computer has just been totally upgraded. remember the last entry, i was complaining that i had to stay in my brother's computer. well now, we have a brand new RAM (memory), video card, motherboard, keyboard, etcetera etcetera. it's really very nice. same old monitor, mouse and sound system though. it's not a loss. our computer is now supah fast. bring on the vista! haha. practices for the dance pro started today. about time. we are so behind schedule. hopefully we won't end up being the losers. we want to win. i think sam's resolve to win is greater than any of us because she's trying to make her last year here count. maybe bearing that in mind will motivate us. it was just my luck that i had to kneel. damn. as if my knees aren't messed up enough. we also got the costumes. they're...nice. we look like waitresses in it though. i think some restaurant wears the same thing. our props are still as weird as ever. but now we have to put a design on it. paint it blue, stuff like that. i got new pe shoes because my current ones are pitiful. i'm afraid to wear 'em. they're so...white. even whiter that my shirt. exams are over and the family day is coming up. sem break is fast approaching. plans are murky so we'll just have to cross those bridges when we get there. finally got on the computer long enough to blog. so nice. i want to write some more, but, apparently, it's dinner time. :)
